Presentation transcript:

Team Name Flight Readiness Review (this is a bare-bones template – make it fancier if you wish, but be sure to address at least the items listed here) (remember this is a 12 to 15-minute oral presentation – don’t go long, but do use the time effectively – practice your timing aloud) (remember that your slides are due by noon on Tuesday, Oct. 25 – if the presentation exceeds 1 Meg consider bringing it to me in person rather than sending it by – indeed, it would be best for someone to stop by in person to make sure all the slides display properly on my computer) Team Members Class and Date

Mission Overview What are your (multiple) objectives? (you need to use the required equipment, GPS data from the tracking system, plus your specialized equipment to accomplish your objectives) This slide will probably have evolved since your last presentation. What do you expect to show/prove/disprove?

Brief Management / Budget Update Show your management slide(s) again – improve on them since the CDR, especially if they were not in the form of a graphical org chart – look up what org charts look like if you don’t know Show your schedule again – it should encompass the past, present, and future – point out where you are on the schedule and what things are coming up in the near future – no need to read all the way through it, just do highlights Show your budget slides (cast and mass) again – you should now be able to state your final (or near- final) mass

Design Overview (multiple slides – have actual box in hand, but also try to make these slides stand alone, with text and photographs) Functional connections and physical layout of the items in the payload Photos of actual box construction Programming (not the actual code, just what it does like “record temperature, pressure, and relative humidity once every xx minutes” ) for BSE computer, HOBO, and still camera (if you are using one) Discuss what data, if any, will be sent to the ground during the flight using the zigbee radio telemetry system

Results of Testing (as evidence that your payload is ready for flight) What tests have been run? What were the results? What changes, if any, were made to the payload based on the testing? What, if anything, remains to be tested before you fly and when will those tests be run? What other things could or should be tested, if we had enough time and/or the right equipment (and why would you test those things and where does your confidence come from having skipped those tests – might be due to successes of previous flights with similar components)? What concerns do you have, if any, about your payload’s flight readiness?

Expected Science Results (this is requested for Revision B of your team documentation, so take a stab at it here) Restate each experiment you will do and talk about the results you expect. Be as specific as you can, but it is OK if you don’t have actual references for all the expected results yet, though you will want those for Rev B of your team documentation. Hint: In his articles Paul Verhage shows plots of pressure, temperature, radiation levels, etc. at various levels in the atmosphere from his own flights – maybe look there for starters.
