Housekeeping Please do not drive in bus loop, use all crosswalks, no U- turns in school zone Breakfast is served at 8:00, please no kids at the school before then. Absences- When your child is going to be absent, please call the office and let them know. Visitors- when you come to the school sign in at the office. Birthday treats- you may bring treats for your child’s birthday. We have 22 students. We will do treats at the end of the day. Treats need to be store packaged, with a visible ingredient label. Box Tops - Every year we have a contest to see which grade brings the most box tops.

Continued: Pup’s Club- Sign up in the office if you are interested Friday Extended Day also sign up in office

4 th Grade What can we expect as parents? Brain Research says: Your child needs plenty of rest. (8-10 hrs.) It is best not to watch TV or play video games 1 hr. prior to bedtime. Children need down time to relax before trying to sleep. Whatever is studied right before bed, the brain processes through the night Expectations and accountability will help all students grow

Class Information: Classroom Newsletter and Homework comes home on Wednesday. Reading log comes home on Monday. Homework and Reading Log due on Monday Homework Expectations Spelling Pretest on Monday Spelling Final on Wednesday

There may be other homework during the week. The kids will always know the due date! Math and nightly reading homework is always due the next day. We will learn to use our time wisely so we don’t have as much homework! Homework folders are a way for us to communicate. If the homework folder is in their backpack, there is something in it (homework or papers). It needs to be at school everyday Late work: you will receive a Late Homework Notice, please sign and return the next day. PowerSchool is available

Specials Monday: Counseling (every other Monday), Lab Tuesday: Library Wednesday: Music, PE, Lab Thursday: Music, PE Friday: 1 st Grade Buddies, Art, Friday release at 1:25

Classroom Reading We use the reading basal provided by the school as a skeleton for the curriculum. We will read a variety of novels that reinforce the skills provided by our basal. We will work in guided reading groups, as well as literature circles. Expectations=read 100 min a week

Book Orders Scholastic Book Clubs I accept online orders only Activation Code:JH7XD

Mathematics We use Everyday Mathematics It is different than we were taught (that’s okay This program is supported by years of research, and our school is proof that it works Student Reference Book should be brought home when your child has homework We correct Math Boxes everyday, they need to correct the problems they got wrong. I collect and give scores at the end of the unit.

How to help at home: Practice Multiplication facts Set a regular time for homework. Have supplies and a quiet area available for your student. Talk to your child about school. Let them know it is important to you. Keep a good working relationship with the school, if you have questions or concerns- contact me!
