Complex Coronary Interventions (CCI) Course A New Learning Pathway by TERUMO ® Interventional Systems

Course Description Complex Coronary Interventions (CCI) was designed for the interventional cardiologist looking to integrate complex PCI into their practice in the near future. The course focuses on the major concerns, tools, step- by-step technical approaches and complications associated with multi-vessel disease, bifurcation, left main, heavily calcified and thrombus bearing lesions (specifically in STEMI procedures). In addition, it provides insight into the implications of doing complex PCI transradially. Learning Objectives The TERUMO Complex Coronary Interventions Course is designed to be an intense learning experience for the interventional cardiologist intending to adopt complex PCI. The course learning objectives are as follows: Learning Format  Didactic with Case Reviews: The course encompasses the above topics through didactic presentations with case reviews and a short practical exercise highlighting the use of complex tools.  Case Solutions: At the end of each didactic segment are open case presentation where the attendees will solve the optimal case approach and determine the best treatment prescription for the patient condition.  Attendee Case Discussions: The course facilitates a section on complications and solutions where attending physicians are requested to bring their challenging cases for discussion with other attending physicians and faculty. ~ Complex Coronary Interventions (CCI) Course 1.The Complex PCI Toolbox – Learn about the complex PCI toolbox available and select the right tools for the complex PCI case in consideration. Learn microcatheter and guidewire manipulation tips and tricks to perform complex PCI effectively and efficiently. 2.Lesion Diagnosis & Case Planning in Multi-vessel Disease – Diagnose, assess, and classify complex lesions using imaging modalities and stage multi-vessel PCI where appropriate. 3.Lesion Approach to Complex PCI – Learn about patient selection rationale and interventional treatment options for bifurcation lesions, left main lesions and heavily calcified lesions. 4.STEMI’s and Thrombus Bearing Lesions – Adopt a step by step approach on STEMI procedures and understand how to address thrombus bearing lesions. 5.Transradial & Complex PCI – Understand the implications of transradial for complex PCI and the considerations required to perform complex PCI transradially.

Course Directors The TERUMO Complex Coronary Course is designed and proctored by cardiologists that have made Complex PCI their everyday living. Cumulatively, they accomplish over 1200 Complex PCI per year at high success rates. 1.Matthew J. Price, MD, FACC, FSCAI: Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Attending Physician in the Division of Interventional Cardiology, at the Scripps Clinic Green Hospital in La Jolla, CA. 2.Michael J. Martinelli, MD, FACC, FSCAI: Chief of Cardiology and former Vice-Chief of the Medical Staff at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany NY. 3.Kintur A Sanghvi MD, FACC, FSCAI: Director of Transradial Program at Deborah Heart & Lung Institute and Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Course Special Features The section Complex PCI – Complications & Solutions is structured to train the interventional cardiologist on specific procedural steps for complications that may arise in everyday practice. The case scenarios are carefully selected to ensure that the cardiologist is aware of potential pitfalls as they begin their journey in complex PCI. This feature was constructed by a CTO physician – Dr. Manos Brilakis – whose expertise in handling CTO complications was applied to the realm of Complex PCI. ~ Complex Coronary Interventions (CCI) Course Dr. Matthew J. Price Dr. Michael J. Martinelli Dr. Kintur Sanghvi

Why learn about Complex PCI?  Everyday PCI is becoming Complex: Acquire techniques and best practices for patient selection & treatment of bifurcation, left main, calcific and thrombus bearing lesions that are becoming more the norm in patient presentations today.  Efficiency and Effectiveness is Key: Increase your efficiency in performing everyday PCI by adopting the Complex PCI toolbox – microcatheters and specialty guidewires.  Increase Case Referrals: Become the “referred to” facility in your community for Complex PCI. Increase volumes in your facility by addressing a broader range of patient presentations. Course Format TERUMO CCI is designed with the busy schedule of the interventional cardiologist in mind.  Regional Courses Available: The courses are held regionally across the US so as to reach you (the cardiologist) in a location close to your practice. Talk to your TERUMO representative to determine when the next course is taking place near you.  1-Day Short Format: The 7-hour short format course enables you to drive in that morning, attend the course and drive home – taking no more than 1-day out of your busy schedule. Some Saturday courses are also available.
