Introduction to Lesson It is very important to explore the serious issue of teenage drinking and its potential fatal outcome. Students will view a video created by 2 parents who lost their two daughters (age 15 and 17) on the same night due to underage drinking and driving. The video is graphic in nature, vividly displaying how their vehicle landed upside down entangled in telephone pole wires. The video is also mature and authentic in that it captures the innocence of the lone survivor and how she didn't think the driver was impaired, suddenly realizing that she was unable to use good judgment at the time due to her own consumption. Two Sisters Tragic Story

Group Reflection Activity Why do teenagers think “it will never happen to me”? How would you feel if you were the friend who survived in the 2 Sisters Video? Do you know anyone taking risks with alcohol? Are they open to changing their behavior? Samplephoto

Learning Objectives:  Students will analyze their thoughts and feelings about teenage drunk driving  Identify at least three factors that, either independently or combined, play a role in teen drinking and driving  Evaluate the signs and behavior of teen drinking and formulate an action plan to seek assistance before they get behind the wheel  Students will raise awareness by creating an educational brochure or presentation to serve as the summative assessment.
