Welcome Dear Parents / Guardians, Welcome to the second grade. We will be learning some exciting things this year.

Class Rules Be Honest Follow Directions Try Your Best Raise Your Hand to Speak Respect Others

School Arrival Students are allowed in the school at 7:15 a.m. At that time students go directly to their classroom or the cafeteria.

School Arrival Students are not allowed to be dropped off unattended at the school prior to 7:15. The school doors remain locked until 7:15.

Tardies The school day begins at 7:50 a.m. If students arrive after the 7:50 bell, they will be considered tardy.

Literacy Block Our Literacy Block is 8:00-11:00. During this time our class does Writer’s Workshop, Reader’s Workshop, Phonics, and Math.

Math Timeline The percentage of time we will spend on each area.

Snack Time Our snack time is 9:30 a.m. Please send in a healthy snack for your child. Please do not send in any fruit juices that are red or blue in color.

Lunch Time Our lunchtime is 11:30 a.m. Parents are always welcome to come in and eat with your child. Please sign in at the front desk and have a seat in the lobby.

Student Checkout Please limit students’ absences and try to make doctor and dental appointments after 12:30 of our school day if at all possible. Our literacy time is crucial to your child’s education.

Dismissal Our regular dismissal time is 2:20 p.m. Parents please Note that there are 5 County Early Dismissal days for this School year.

County Early Dismissal Days On these days, students will be released starting at 12:20. The County Early Dismissal days for this school year are as follows:

Homework Policy A homework packet will be given out every Monday. It is to be completed and returned on Friday.

Homework Policy The homework should take approximately 30 minutes each day to complete. Please have your child read at least 15 minutes each night in addition to the homework pack.

Transportation Policy ALL CHANGES in a students transportation home must be in writing.
