MISSION STATEMENT The Clinton Middle School is committed to educating and motivating students, providing them with a sound educational foundation and critical thinking skills, which empowers them to become responsible citizens and productive members of society. Staff, parents, and community work cooperatively to provide a safe, supportive environment that fosters self-esteem and mutual respect.

Classroom Procedures Computer Class Rules Consequences My responsibility…. Your responsibility….

What does this mean? Be tolerant of differences. Use good manners, not bad language. Be considerate of the feelings of others. Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone. Deal peacefully with anger, insults and disagreements. Ways I can show respect: Speak nicely to others--say please and thank you; wait my turn to speak; make eye contact with the person; use positive body language. Listen to the person. Use listening manners, let the speaker know I am listening; think about what the person is saying; ask questions. Be willing to share my ideas, materials, etc., with the person. Be ready to help as needed and back off if help is refused. Acknowledge personal space and stay within a comfortable distance.

Mrs. Beck’s Class Management Plan Our Daily Routine Procedures…. 1.Walk into class 2.Put your books into a “cubby” 3.Read the overhead to see what is needed for the class 4.Gather materials 5.Sit at your assigned computer station 6.Log in and begin today’s assignment following classroom rules! Let the “learning begin!” The day’s goals are listed on the board!

Mrs. Beck’s Class Management Plan Closing down Computer Station Procedure at the end of class

I believe that if I give all of you a:  well-managed  organized classroom  with clear daily practices  and routine procedures  you all will meet with success!

Classroom Management Plan Classroom Rules: Be respectful to teacher and to one another (no backtalk) Remain in assigned seat Raise your hand to speak (questions/comments/concerns) No gum, candy or liquids allowed in classroom At the end of class properly close down your work station Follow agenda rules/AUP Consequences: Warning Move away from computer--observe class (Fill out Behavior Plan) Detention (to be served the next day-no exceptions!) Student must bring signed detention form. Name will be sent to office if student doesn't show up on assigned date or if student doesn't show up on assigned date with signed form. Office If an AUP rule is broken there will be a loss of account (length of time to be determined by teacher/administration) Students are expected to assume responsibility for their behavior—please read the student handbook in your child’s agenda, to understand the rules and regulations. AUP guidelines will be followed.

Grading Policy 25% assessment (test/quiz) 25% following class/lab procedures Begin with 100% 1 point off every time you don’t follow procedures…..Ex: -1 forget to push in chair, -1 close book, -1 turn off monitor, -1 leave scraps around, etc. 50% daily work

I have a procedure to follow at the end of class to close down my computer station properly. It is 25% of my grade!

-5 points for each assignment not made up (if you are absent) You have until the week before grades close to turn it in! Shut Down Place them on your monitor Flip your mouse over and be sure light is off!

The red star bin... Contains today’s worksheet!

I am in computer class and I am done with the assignment, what should I do? There is a blue circle bin with "When I am done worksheets" I can get out of my seat to get one and begin the assignment

To leave the computer lab …. to go to bathroom or nurse….. You need your agenda You fill it out and bring it to Mrs. Beck to sign Also sign out at the door!

Mrs. Beck keeps track of when you are absent from school and puts a form in the absentee folder.

When you are absent from this class (computers) what should you do when you return to school? Check the absentee folder to see what you have missed and schedule a time to make up the work! make sure the work is made up by the end of the quarter. -5 points off of your procedure grade if assignment is not made up.

I am home sick for a few days with a cold, and I am going to miss computer class, what should I do? If I have a computer at home with the internet, check Mrs. Beck's webpage on Clinton Middle School Website. I can at least see what is happening in computers this week. I don't have a computer at home or a telephone, I will check with Mrs. Beck when I return and check the absentee folder and arrange to make up the work. Have my parent/guardian call the school and request work to be sent home.

Study Guides are always in the Study Guide Bin and posted online for each major assessment.

I went home on the bus and forgot to take a study guide home with me for a computer test tomorrow. Is there anything I can do to prepare? Go online to Mrs. Beck's webpage and get another copy of the study guide

Mrs. Beck supplies extra practice typing sheets online (Mrs. Beck's webpage) for me to practice at home.

Extra help is available after school.

Mrs. Beck uses ipass so that I and my parents can see my grades. (I will ask them to show me too!) Check with your parent to make sure they have an account!

Keyboarding is too hard for me, what can I do? Practice at Home Come to Extra Help

Somebody is bothering me in computer class what should I do? Ask them to STOP and or talk to Mrs. Beck

Mrs. Beck has an agenda on the overhead each day when I come to class stating what we are doing in class each day.

No….. Cell phones Facebook gmail Twitter Internet games etc. etc. etc. Ask permission if you NEED internet or !
