WELCOME TO CURRICULUM NIGHT! Please begin filling out the information on top of your folder. BOTH sections of the yellow paper need to be filled out for classroom and office purposes. Thank you!

ATTENDANCE Please have your child at school each day by 8:00 am. Children are marked tardy at 8:05 and must be walked to the office and signed in by the parent. If a child is absent, please send a note or an stating the date and reason of the absence.

TRANSPORTATION If your child’s transportation is changing, please send a written note in your child’s daily homework folder. If there is a last-minute change, you may call Mrs. Caldwell in the office and she will notify us of the change.

PROCEDURES Daily Homework Folder : This folder will travel home with your child each afternoon and come back each morning. It is where you will find notes, homework pages, behavior logs, lunch menus, etc. Thursday Folder : This maroon folder will be sent home each Thursday with your child’s work for you to review. Please return the items placed in the “Return to School” side and keep the items on the “Keep at Home” side.

HOMEWORK Homework sheets will be given Monday through Thursday A skills and a math sheet will be given on these days Send back homework daily in communication folder. Nightly reading log: Please do your best to read a story to your child on Monday-Friday. Write the date, book name, and initial on your student’s reading log in his/her daily homework folder.

FOOD Snack : Please send one healthy snack in a separate bag with your child’s name on it each day. Lunch : We cannot refrigerate or microwave student lunches for safety reasons. If your child is ordering a hot lunch through the school, please mark that on the calendar that is sent home each month. If a child does not have a lunch, he/she will have a hot lunch ordered for that day and it will be charged to his/her account. The menu can be viewed online at: ents/511/lunch_menu

FOOD Particulars : Please do not send soda (water or juice is recommended) Please pack spoons, forks, and napkins as needed. Please send only one item for a snack each day. Birthday Treats : Please let me know if you plan to bring in a birthday treat on your child’s birthday. We will celebrate at the end of our lunch time (12:30). If you child has specific allergies, please let me know of a treat he/she is able to eat so that can be made available during the celebration.

CLASS RULES Keep your hands to yourself. Listen. Raise your hand. Wait your turn. Share. Help clean up. Walk don’t run. Walk in line. Be a friend.

BEHAVIOR CHART The color your child lands on will be marked each day in the daily homework folder. Students will begin each day on Green (Good to Go) Students have the opportunity to move up one space to a “High Flyer” (blue) if they exhibit exceptional behavior. Student who do not follow directions will move down in the following order: Yellow (Warning) Orange (Consequence) – time out at recess or silent lunch Red (call home to parents)

CLASSROOM BUCKET The class will work together to fill our classroom bucket! Once the bucket is full of ‘warm fuzzies’, a sparkle stick will be chosen. Each sparkle stick has a reward on it. Class reward days will be on Fridays! You will be notified of our fuzzy Friday once we have earned it! Rewards include: Extra recess Movie Day Class choice Picnic Day Bring a stuffed friend Day Show & Tell Day

VOLUNTEERING Please allow 6 weeks before volunteering in the classroom can begin so students can adjust to routines. Thank you for understanding! Room mom or dad Reading with/to students Help during lunch Parent Forum

PROCEDURES Money : Please send an exact amount of money in an envelope labeled with your child’s name, amount of money, and what the money is for. You will receive a receipt for amounts over $5.00 Field Trips : If you are volunteering for a field trip, please note that siblings cannot accompany us on our trips. Also, you will be responsible for supervising your child along with at least one other child from the class.
