Volunteer Retention Using Volunteer Recruitment MEGAN HOVER, JACKSON COUNTY CASA PROGRAM MANAGER KARRIE DUKE, JACKSON COUNTY CASA DIRECTOR OF VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS

The Continuous Cycle Retain Regroup Recruit

What happens after a volunteer completes training? Retention We want them to finish their first case. We want them to take another case. We want them to be promoting CASA within their social circles.

What does it take to retain?  Access to CASA staff and other volunteers  Updates from CASA staff and volunteers  Get them into your office

Retention naturally leads to Recruitment  Track volunteer sources  Current volunteers are already recruiting for you?  If not, why?

Regroup with staff  Meet with staff after training to discuss what worked.  Develop new ideas for next time.  How can other supporters help out?

How to make current volunteers happy  Newsletters  Birthday, Holiday, and Program Anniversary cards  Mentor Program  In-Services

Volunteer Recruitment at Appreciation Events  Happy Hours and formal events  Encourage Volunteers to bring a guest  Give awards and recognition  Notify employers and families

Volunteer Recruitment at Speaking Engagements  Empower volunteers to identify opportunities in community to recruit volunteers  United Way events  Lunch and Learns at businesses  School Volunteer Fairs  Encourage volunteers to take the lead during these recruitment events  Encourage volunteers to host recruitment events

Encourage participation at fundraising events  Planning committees  Attending  Volunteering

Other Suggestions for Recruitment Volunteer Orientations Volunteer Meet and Greets Referral Raffle Emergency Assistance through Social Media Holiday Gift Project through Contact and Social Media Anything else?

Use Volunteer Talents and Skills  Marketing  Social Media  Public Relations  Quality Control  Human Resources  Grant Writing
