Presentation transcript:

So far in this series: No such thing as a “Perfect Family” There are families where: Parents strive to teach their children; and that children strive to honor their parents.

What Happens When a child goes Prodigal?

The Parable (Luke 15:11-32) *The focus is on the Pharisees (vs. 1-2), but… A Child’s Choice. The Father’s Gracious Response. cp. Dt. 21:15-21 Waiting and watching: ready for his prodigal to return. Graciously/enthusiastically accepting his prodigal back.

Free-will: the X Factor Some parents who raise their children in the way of the Lord may blame themselves for a prodigal child. Prodigal children have a heart set on the flesh; not the Spirit’s call to honor their parents. Rom. 8:7; Eph. 6:2-3

Our Love: the God Factor “Let go” as your child’s heart has already left them. Each day you ought to lovingly wait with hope for your prodigal’s return. If they return: celebrate the way heaven does! Lk. 15:7, 10, 22-24
