JA History Founded in 1919 JA started as a collection of small after- school business clubs for students in Springfield, Massachusetts. JA now reaches more than 11 million young people worldwide each year.
JA North Alabama History Huntsville office founded in Merged with Decatur office in Jan 2009 Recently formed Marshall Co. District summer 2011 Now serves 12 counties - 11 in North Alabama, 1 in Tennessee Teaches approximately 10,000 students each year!

What Would I Be Committing To? Elementary 5 lessons minutes each Middle School 6 lessons minutes each High School 5-8 lessons 1 hour each Standard In-Class JA-in-a-Day Job Shadow Elementary only Whole school All in 1 day Typically 8:00 – 2:00 Date is set between school and company One day For 8 th -12 th grade students Students visit your workplace 2 student minimum You set the date & time with the student

Partnership with local universities and many organizations on Redstone Arsenal 2011 – first time bringing students offsite locations Adventures in Engineering Young Minds at Work One day For 8 th grade students Students visit your workplace Must be able to accommodate up to 50 people at one time Hands-on activities with the students What Would I Be Committing To?
