Step 1…Let’s get started First you need to determine what your focus is. What book are you creating this book trailer for? What is the central idea or theme you want to convey to your audience?

Step 1…continued What images, sounds or words come to mind when you think about this book? Jot down your thoughts and answers to these questions and anything else you feel may be useful to helping you focus your ideas.

Step 2 – Data Gathering There are a couple of ways to help you save all that you find and here is what we suggest: 1) Open a Word document and copy and paste your links there (for photos, videos, etc.) and then type the text you want to use for each.

Data Gathering..continued. 2) Create a folder in Windows Explorer under "My Documents“. You can save your images, music and text in any format in that folder.

Keep track of those sources **As you find a photo, video or music you want to save it to your folder and then copy/paste the website to the word document with a short description. Remember this is just a starting point, once you start your movie you will probably think of more things to add, just save and copy/paste as you have been so you have a record of where you got your data.***

TEXT You will want to plan out any text that you want to use in your book trailer. This can be a rough draft for now as you can change it as you go. Just jot down some ideas, so you have a general idea. Think of this as captions you would put under a photograph.

Photos There are a number of places to get photos, but if you use Google you will want to site your sources, otherwise the sites below are “Royalty Free”. You can type "Royalty Free Photos" into your search engine. Microsoft office images -

Music The same rule applies for music as for photos! - Find Sounds - search for specific sounds ps.shtml - Partner in Rhyme - Free Royalty Free Music Loops and Music Tracks ps.shtml m - Brainy Betty - Free Sound Clips and Music for Presentations m

Videos Yep...same rule applies here:-) Create your own videos! Type "Royalty Free Videos" into your search engine Once you have gathered your photos, text, and music into one place you are ready for Step 3!
