It is the largest lake in the British Isles, near the capital of Northern Ireland.

This island is inhabited by only thirty families. For centuries the Scots and Irish fought over the island but eventually the Irish were allowed to stay because of the absence of snakes on the island. It is said that St Patrick drove all the snakes out of Ireland.

County Down is one of the best farming counties in Ireland. It is closely associated with St. Patrick, after whom the county town is named.

There are nine glens of Antrim. Each of these green glens has a character of its own. Together, they form a lovely and romantic area of rivers, waterfalls, wild flowers and birds. What does “glen” mean?

It is a mass of stone columns standing very near together. The top of the columns form stepping stones leading from the cliff foot and disappearing under the sea. It is the result of volcanic action.
