INTRODUCTORY QUESTIONS 1. What is a play? 2. How do plays differ from other kinds of narratives? 3. Can a play do something that a novel/short story/poem cannot do? 4. Is a play different from a film? 5. What are some plays that you have heard of, watched, or even performed? 6.Are there some elements that all plays have in common? 7.Are there different kinds of plays?

What is a play? (2I2) 1.A play is a live performance onstage which consists of mostly dialogue and the use of props. 2.A performance where actors act out scenes from a script. 3.A play is a theatrical performance in real time without prior editing. 4.A play is a reenactment of a scene from a book or a script. 5.A play is a formal performance on a stage that includes props and that needs a script. 6.A play is a story written for people to act out in a performance, consisting of dialogue, for purposes such as entertainment, propaganda etc.

What is a play? (2I1) 1. Plays are performed with actors, usually have a script, have different scenes/acts, and are displayed visually. 2. A written form of theatre. 3. A play is a staged event where actors act out a scripted plot with equipment such as props and costumes, in front of a live audience. 4. A play is a piece of literature that is acted out; usually involves actors and props; sometimes adapted from a book. 5. A play is a live performance with actors; can be poetry/prose; sometimes involves an orchestra; made up of many scenes which make up acts. Meant to be realistic and have dramatic irony; words can be used instead of props. 6. A group of actors performing a scripted story which may or may not be original, through actions and/or speeches, often with the assistance of props, live onstage.
