What You Need To Know

 Any exposed steel cable and/or metal tensioning device through the top and bottom of the net shall be covered  The standards, Referee’s platform, and floor/wall cables shall be padded as follows:  Standards must be padded to a minimum height of 5 ½ feet with at least 1 inch padding  Front and sides of Referee’s platform must be padded in the same manner as the standards  Any guy cables or rigid braces must be padded to a minimum height of 5 ½ feet with at least ½ inch padding  Penalty – Match shall not be played. Chapter and UIL shall be notified

HHeight of net 77 feet 4 1/8 inches at center of net EEdges shall not exceed this height by more than ¾ inch (could be exceptions) NNet antennas AAttached to net in line with the outside edge of the sideline EExtend upward at least 2 ½ feet FFastened securely at top and bottom of net RReferee’s platform MMust be safe and stable EElevates Referee’s head 2 to 3 feet above the top of the net Height disadvantaged – be prepared to supply your own lift for platform

 Shall be all white panels (2009)  May have writing to identify game ball or school’s possesion  In 2010 multicolored panels will be allowed  Inflated to 4.3 to 4.6 psi of air pressure  Recommended – every official have an air pressure gauge and an air pump  Home team shall provide game balls  Shall have the NFHS Authenticating Mark  Recommend a backup ball be available at scorer’s table
