Thesis development AFTER YOU WATCH THE VIDEO, DEVELOP A COHESIVE THESIS STATEMENT ON WHY THIS SPEECH IS STILL SO IMPACTFUL TO AMERICAN SOCIETY TODAY. Write this thesis down. Set the speech aside

So how does this help me write a better thesis? Your thesis should be driven by a combination of strong green words Because of their connotative, value-driven nature, a “green” word based thesis will automatically drive your paper toward persuasion.

Go back to the “I Have A Dream” speech Highlight (preferably in GREEN) the GREEN concepts in his speech. AFTER you have highlighted, pair up with someone at your table to debate the accuracy of your highlighted words Are they: 1. Abstract 2. Strongly Connotative 3. Value Driven With your partner, use your PINK highlighter to go back through the speech and highlight concrete details that show the meaning of the Green Words.

On your original paper: Develop a cohesive “although” thesis statement on the below prompt. Use your green words and formula this time. Answer the prompt in a detailed paragraph. (1)Why do you think Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I have a Dream” speech is still impactful to today’s society? (2) How have we, as a society, evolved when it comes to equality? Use direct examples from the speech and real life to support.
