Training Goals “Special Office Waste” is a generic term for waste found in an office setting that requires special handling and disposal considerations. This training aims to refresh waste generators on recognizing, proper storage, and proper disposal of special office wastes.

It is perfectly acceptable to change a desk table lamp on your own.

If not empty, aerosol cans may be considered hazardous waste. The propellant may be flammable or the material itself may be hazardous. However, if the cans are empty, they can be recycled.

Although they may have sharp edges, jagged metal, broken glass, or sharp plastic are not considered sharps and should not go in a Sharps Container.

Hazardous Material Empty Containers Empty containers that once held hazardous material are not hazardous themselves. Collect and Store Office Waste must be stored in an Office Waste Accumulation Area. Accumulation areas make it easier for co-workers and Environmental Protection to locate waste. Label a box and place in appropriate area of the office –Closets –Cabinets –Lower shelves
