Mechanics Capitals  to emphasis the name of the lady that the writer love the most.  to attract the reader to pay attention to it and it’s like telling the reader that this lady with this name is damn important for the writer.  to make readers ‘aware’ of the lady named Annabel Lee throughout the poem.  example : in the first stanza, line 4 ‘ANNABEL LEE’

Diction Connotative Meaning  The phrase ‘in a kingdom by the sea’ is repeated throughout the poem.  The words ‘maiden’ is used instead of a ‘woman’ in the poem to represent Annabel Lee.

Grammar  past tense Example: first stanza, line1 (was) second stanza, line 3 (loved)  The writer wrote this poem after his wife who is Annabel Lee died of tuberculosis.
