From Adam To Noah ● More than just a list of names ● Names were given with purpose ● Meaning of each name significant ● Some individuals stand out

Genesis 5 Recap Gen 5:1 This is the written account of Adam's line. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God.

Genesis 5 Recap Gen 5:2 He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them "man."

Genesis 5 Adam ● “Generations of Adam” ● Strange expression in OT & NT ● In NT, “Generations of Christ” ● Two seeds against each other ● Struggle between Christ & Satan ● Lived out in Adam's line

Genesis 5 Adam Gen 5:3-5 When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. Altogether, Adam lived 930 years, and then he died.

Lamech Gen 5:28-29 When Lamech had lived 182 years, he had a son. He named him Noah and said, "He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the LORD has cursed." Genesis 5

Lamech Gen 5:30-31 After Noah was born, Lamech lived 595 years and had other sons and daughters. 31 Altogether, Lamech lived 777 years, and then he died. Genesis 5

Lamech ● “Despairing” ● Adam 874 when Lamech was born ● Lamech 182 when Noah was born ● Adam did not live to see Noah Genesis 5

Noah Gen 5:29,32 He named him Noah and said, "He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the LORD has cursed." After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham and Japheth. Genesis 5
