Rules of Capitalization 1. DO NOT capitalize the names of school subjects, except the names of language classes or course names that contain a number. 2. Capitalize geographical names. (Including “Specific Regions” i.e. “The West”)

Rules of Capitalization 3. DO NOT capitalize the names of seasons, unless it is used in the name of a special event. (“Fall Foliage Festival”)

Rules of Capitalization 4. Capitalize proper nouns, both people and places. (Thomas Jefferson) (Belleview Avenue) DO NOT capitalize: short prepositions (in, on, with), articles (a, and, the), coordinating conjunctions (and, but, for) or the infinitive “to”. (Mary, Queen of Scots)
