Session 1: Discover

Vision: To be a faith community of people who are passionate about their relationship with Jesus Christ, who introduce Him to others, and are actively involved in serving the community of Clarington.

Seeking to BLESS someone, whether from our community or beyond, every week. Attempting to EAT with someone that we don't live with every week. Growing in a practice of taking time, at least once each week, to LISTEN to the voice of God's Spirit. Developing a discipline of LEARNing from the Bible. Living out what we learn and experience of God as we are SENT into life.

Why Take Discovery II Paul mentions two different types of commitment in 2 Corinthians 8:5 “First they gave themselves to the Lord; and then, by God’s will, they gave themselves to us as well.” At Discovery Church, we want you to publicly announce your faith in either baptism or profession of faith. Once you commit yourself to Christ for salvation, then you commit yourself to other Christians for membership in our church family.

Becoming a Member The phase “One another” or “each other” is used more than 50 times in the New Testament

Becoming a member We are commanded to: Love each other, pray for each other, encourage each other, admonish each other, greet each other, serve each other, teach each other, except each other, honour each other, bear each other’s burdens, forgive each other, singing to each other, submit to each other and be devoted to each other. All of these commands are what membership in a local body of believers is all about. These are the responsibilities of membership

Baptism/Profession of faith Baptism is an is an outward sign of an inter change of heart. This is an outward sign of the inner washing away of sin. Profession of faith is the adult way to publicly accept and confirm the promise was made in baptism when you were an infant

Discovery We are all on a journey of spiritual discovery. We believe that this church can be a place where life change can happen wherever we are on the road of faith, knowing that spiritual growth is different for each person.

The Journey We are all on a journey of faith… It is different for each person The Bible tells us that many people will have a different journey to faith. Example: John 3 & 4
