facts He believed that the whites were to blame for the separating of his family He wanted to be a lawyer but because he was black he had to be a carpenter instead so he left at 8 th grade In 1942 he moved to the black side of New York where he cheated to make money He moved to Boston where he made a burglar ring

facts In 1946 he was taken to prison While he was in prison he learned Islam He changed his last name in prison from Little to x He learned Islam in prison from a group called The Nation of Islam who believed the whites were devils He started many Muslim groups in the U.S
