Let’s talk about: PHINEHAS

Who was Phinehas ? Have you ever heard this name? Phinehas is mention in the Bible. He was praise by God for an action that he took against sin and that God is expecting us to do the same…. Harlotry will not be tolerated… Israel it’s been in the desert for almost 4 decades now and they come close to the border of Canaan, there is a lot of land still to conquer and they will need a lot of faith to do it. What will happen right now is very clever from the people from Moab. They know that they will not defeat Israel but in order to defeat the Army of The Lord they need to think a way of doing it. The Lord prohibited Israel from having extra marital relation with people on the other side of the Jordan. Israel is commit Harlotry, what Moab wants to do is to have God against his people. They know very well what the consequences are…So they sent their women to the Israelites…

Num. 25:1-9… “1 Now Israel remained in Acacia Grove, and the people began to commit harlotry with the women of Moab. 2 They invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods. 3 So Israel was joined to Baal of Peor, and the anger of the Lord was aroused against Israel. 4 Then the Lord said to Moses, "Take all the leaders of the people and hang the offenders before the Lord, out in the sun, that the fierce anger of the Lord may turn away from Israel." 5 So Moses said to the judges of Israel, "Every one of you kill his men who were joined to Baal of Peor." 6 And indeed, one of the children of Israel came and presented to his brethren a Midianite woman in the sight of Moses and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 7 Now when Phinehas the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose from among the congregation and took a javelin in his hand; 8 and he went after the man of Israel into the tent and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her body. We keep saying over and over again. God will not tolerate sin. His children should not tolerate sin also. He will punish us if we commit sin, He will punish sin regardless who’s the one committing it… Neither we His Children! El Celo por el Señor The Zeal for the Lord

This is the action that has encouraged me to study about this man… Phinehas did not tolerate the violation of the word of God. You know what? For his faithfulness on that occasion he received the divine approbation. El Celo por el Senor The Zeal for the Lord

Numbers 25: Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 11 "Phinehas the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned back My wrath from the children of Israel, because he was zealous with My zeal among them, so that I did not consume the children of Israel in My zeal. 12 Therefore say, 'Behold, I give to him My covenant of peace; 13 and it shall be to him and his descendants after him a covenant of an everlasting priesthood, because he was zealous for his God, and made atonement for the children of Israel.' The wrath of God was upon them…Phinehas saves his people by acting in a holy manner… Are WE Acting like Phinehas when we know that some of us is in Sin? El Celo por el Señor The Zeal for the Lord

He was a man of great belief in God. Joshua 22: Then Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said to the children of Reuben, the children of Gad, and the children of Manasseh, "This day we perceive that the Lord is among us, because you have not committed this treachery against the Lord. He is commemorated in Ps. 106:30, Thus they provoked Him to anger with their deeds, And the plague broke out among them. 30 Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, And the plague was stopped. 31 And that was accounted to him for righteousness To all generations forevermore. God of Israel wants you to recognize when things are not done according to his will. He wants for us to recognize when sin is at the door. The commandment is for everyone to act and follow Phinehas. Show zeal for God always in your attitude with sin. Psalm 69:9… “9 Because zeal for Your house has eaten me up, And the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me.

Please think that there are always Phinehas among us willing to come and to tell us when we are doing wrong…Are we learning the lessons from God? 1 Corinthians 5:1, 2… “1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles--that a man has his father's wife! 2 And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you. 1 Corinthians 6:13… “13 Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
