2 Welcome Purpose AmeriCorps State and National Grantees training staff will explore learning strategies, techniques, and resources that strengthen skills to effectively execute the Corporation for National and Community Service leaderships priorities in the area of Performance Management. Goals AmeriCorps State and National Grantee training staff will: Fully understand the priorities of the CNCS leadership and explore learning and support strategies that will ensure transmittal to sub-grantees and sites; Review performance management theory, skills and techniques so as to strengthen their ability to support sub-grantees and sites; and Discuss their role and develop action strategies that help ensure the integration and implementation of new CNCS priorities among sub-grantees and sites in accordance with the Serve America Act.

4 There is a body of knowledge/literature on the subject of performance management. By performance management system we are not referring to a specific model or off-the-shelf product but a generally understood set of practices and procedures that taken together constitute a system of behavior for a particular organization leading to the intended outcomes identified in the NOFA. 5 Clarify what change program is trying to create (vision) Gain specificity on how program will accomplish this change (strategy) Focus practices and procedures on intended outcomes (execution) Determine what information will be most helpful to understand if on course to achieve change (outcome) Collect and use this information for program improvement (performance measures) Managing to Outcomes
