Benefits of Playing Sports Zachary Schadewald Benefits of Playing Sports

Interest I have been playing sports ever since I was a little kid, and I just wanted to know what some of the physical benefits from playing sports.

Paper Driving Question: How do sports affect the lives of student athletes in and out of school? Thesis Statement: Sports affect the lives of student athletes in and out of school by decreasing obesity, by making more friends, by decreasing stress on students, and by increasing the grades of students that participate in sports.

Paper Cont. What did I learn from my research? I learned that there are many benefits that come from sports such as physical, social, and mental benefits.

Interesting Facts A 2003 Sport Canada survey of 1005 Canadian youth found that 87 percent of children who participated in sports made more friends. 45% of Americans say they exercise to help reduce stress. People who exercise every day reduce their risk of anxiety and stress levels by more than 40%.

More Facts American study shows that more active children playing sports or vigorous exercise did better in school Students who exercised vigorously seven days a week had G.P.A.’s that were, on average, 0.4 points higher than those who didn’t exercise. High school girls that play sports in high school have a 41% higher chance of graduating college

My Product For my product I played sports and exercised and examined all of the physical benefits that these activities had on me. The activities that I did was played 3 rounds of golf, a basketball game, and ran twice for 30 minutes

My Product Impact Mentor My product impacts everyone that plays sports. It impacted me personally by decreasing my weight, and decreasing my heart rate. Mentor I did work with a mentor, and he helped me by making sure that I got everything due on the due date.

Connection Connection between Paper and Product My paper talks about all of the benefits from playing sports including mental, social, and physical. My product is showing the physical benefits that come from sports.

Successes Success It was easy for me to get started with my product because I love playing sports. Researching all about sports because it was a topic that I am really interested in.

Challenges Challenges Procrastination Getting my paper approved

Reflection This project will impact my future by keeping me in good health for the rest of my life. Gives me sense of achievement that I able to complete a self study project. I will take away that sports have a lot of benefits other than having fun.
