Friendly Letter Mr. Rook and Ms. Bridgeland Fourth Grade Language Arts

5 major parts of a Friendly Letter 1) Heading 2) Greeting 3) Body 4) Closing 5) Signature

th ST Washington, D.C September 10, 2014 Dear Ms. Friedlander, How are you enjoying Spain? I am having a great time teaching fourth grade Language Arts! I am excited to tell you about a fun activity that I did with the fourth graders called “Student Self-Portrait.” The students wrote about all of their favorite things to do, and it helped me get to know them better. They even got to decorate their own work with their favorite colors, and then they shared them with the class. I will let you know other great things that happen in the classroom this year, and I look forward to hearing from you. Write back soon! Sincerely, Ms. Bridgeland

The Heading appears in the top right corner th St Washington, D.C September 10, 2014 First line: the number of the building and the street from where you are sending the letter (return address) Second line: the city, state and zip code Third line: today’s date

The Greeting appears below the heading on the left side. It is a way of saying “hello” to the person that you are speaking with. Be sure to include a comma! Dear Ms. Friedlander,

The Body is the part of the letter where you write what is happening. Be sure to indent each new paragraph.
