Jeffrey Magee AKA Maniac Magee is an orphan because his parents died in a train crash. He ran away from his home where he stayed with his aunt and uncle because they fought all the time. He doesn’t have a home though until he meets a girl named Amanda and she asks her mom if he can stay with her. Amanda’s mom ends up saying yes. Jeffery sleeps on the floor every night because he used to being homeless.

Jeffrey met a girl named Amanda. Amanda is black and Jeffrey is white. This is very strange because the town is separated by their skin color. They manage to make it work out though.

Jeffrey’s parents died in a trolley crash. Jeffrey was forced to live with his Aunt Dot and Uncle Dan.
