Confucius Temple It is devoted to the memory of Confucius. He and his apprentice are considered the sages and philosophers of Confucianism.

Who is Confucius? One of the greatest mentors and sages in Chinese history. He promoted the public education before 400 B.C. He emphasized personal and governmental morality, justice and sincerity. His philosophical system is developed to Confucianism.

The most significant proverb is.. “In education, there is no distinction of classes.”

Li Gate & Yi Path The Li and Yi stands for rites and righteousness in Chinese. This is the entrance to the main hall.

The Yi Dance the most solemn sacrificial ritual in ancient China The music and poetry in the ritual are to express veneration for the great sage, Confucius. Usually, as a show of respect to Confucius, the president will present this ritual.

Baoan Temple 保安宮主要供奉保生大帝

The God of Chinese Medicine This Temple is devoted to the memory of a traditional Chinese M.D., named Wu Tao, in the Song Dynasty. He cured sick people by medication and acupuncture. After he died, people started to worship him. In Chinese, Baoan stands for: guarding lives.

Features in Temples.. In Western culture, dragons are horrible, but it’s totally an opposite idea to the Chinese “Long.” In Chinese culture, the builder will decorate temples with gods, animals, and Chinese dragons(Long) on the roofs and pillars for blessings.
