What is ‘rhetoric’? The art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the use of figures of speech and other compositional techniques. Language designed to have a persuasive or impressive effect on its audience, but often regarded as lacking in sincerity or meaningful content. Google Definitions

Group Practice Instructions 1.In your preassigned groups, elect one person to be your presenter and one person to be your scribe. 2.Evaluate your given advertisement. Keep in mind the following questions: 1.Which forms of rhetoric are in your advertisement? 2.If more then one, which is most prominent? 3.How do you know what form of rhetoric is being used? Point out specific examples. 4.How persuasive do you think this advertisement is? 3.After ten minutes your presenter will share your findings and thoughts with the class.
