Macoy K. Period 7

Setting The book takes place in a mythical 21 st century that has a beautiful half blood hill, and a monsterific New York City. Without this setting you wouldn’t have the same landmarks and it would make the plot different.

Characters

Conflict The main conflict in this book is that Percy has to find and return the lightning bolt to Zeus. It is both man v man, because Percy has to fight, and man v self, because he has to make many choices

Summary of Plot Since I don’t want to give you a long boring speech, I’ll shorten it. Percy fights monsters, then more monsters, after that he goes to half-blood hill and learns that he has to find and return Zeus’s lightning bolt, then fights more monsters, then more monsters, then goes to underworld. Does he make it out alive, or does he die?

Theme Stand up for your friends Text Evidence 1: “Grover pulled me back to my seat. Your already on probation, he reminded me” Page 3 Text Evidence 2: they have surrounded us by now, I kicked one away from Annabeth’s leg.” page 237. Text Evidence 3: “Grover had chunks of peanut butter and bread in his hair. That’s it, I started to get up.” page 3

Point of View The point of view in my book is first person. It helps the reader understand Percy’s feelings and actions, if there was a different point of view, you could get more emotions.

Symbolism I chose a lightning bolt, It symbolizes the power of Percy and presence of Zeus. With out the lightning bolt, the story wouldn’t seem as powerful.

Recommendation You should definitely read this book, it is my favorite. It hooks the readers and keeps them hooked with an action- packed adventure that will blow your mind. It teaches a lot about Greek mythology in a fun and interesting way. I highly recommend this book.
