TEMPUS VERITAS JOINT PROJECT

 Realizing the importance of maintaining constant relations with the public and promoting YSLU programs, YSLU has established a public relations centre. It constantly updates the information about the YSLU activities in the YSLU website and disseminates the information in mass media as well.  For the purpose of information dissemination trilingual booklets, leaflets and other materials about YSLU have been published.  YSLU is regularly represented at educational and publishing exhibitions, scientific-educational forums and at events of public importance at national and international levels.  The content and the technical capacities of the website have been greatly improved.

 YSLU Career Centre was opened in  Its main function is to provide for the continuity of the relationship between the HEI - students – graduates- employers.  To establish and maintain these relations the Career Centre organizes annual meetings and events with the representatives of different employers, NGOs and international organizations that present their vacancies and the application requirements.  The Career Centre assembles and systematizes the labour market suggestions concerning the changes in educational programs and presents them to the administration and the chairs.

 YSLU introduced a course on “Planning a Career” on the suggestion of the Career Centre. It aims to present the career planning criteria, labour rights, trade unions, and the skills necessary for competitive market. However, the events organized by the Career Centre don’t focus on promoting the relations between post-graduate students and employers.

 To diversify information dissemination means as well as the scope by focusing on intensive application of modern information technologies and redirecting it from “domestic consumer” to “foreign consumer”.  To promote YSLU integration in national and international programs of public importance.  To provide YSLU accessibility for all the social classes.  To broaden cooperation opportunities with NGOs, business and charity organizations.  To diversify the collaboration with the labour market.

 An office of international relations has been established to systematize the YSLU international activities.  YSLU has signed agreements with 25 universities of different countries, as well as international organizations, particularly Council of Europe, European Centre for Modern Languages, UNESCO, Francophone Universities, Association of Black Sea Universities, etc.  Confucius Centre, Austrian Library, Francophone electronic centre and Centre of the Georgian language have been established in the framework of Interstate agreements. Promotion for internationalisation

 Some professors from foreign countries (China, Korea, Fulbright program participants, etc.) teach or co-teach at the University.  International conferences and seminars have been organized with the participation of representatives from renowned international universities and the relevant departments of the Council of Europe and UNESCO.  YSLU has joint master programs with international HEIs that may enable to develop post-graduate programs, as well.

 The joint scientific and research activities are mostly confined to collaboration in the frames of conferences.  There are few international grant programs, which results in insufficient mobility.  There are no international post-graduate students.

 To make the educational programs compliant with the international requirements.  To diversify the formats of international cooperation.  To develop institutional mechanisms of cooperation between YSLU and other universities of the RA for joint international activity.  To promote the publication of YSLU research findings in renowned international journals, to prepare and publish joint scientific journals.

 To establish joint research groups with partner universities.  To introduce joint educational programs to award double diplomas.  To promote and assist the academic staff to participate in training courses in partner foreign universities.  To promote the exchange of students and academic staff with foreign universities.

 PhDs and young researchers in Humanities and Social Sciences have mainly only academia as their labour market.  On the other hand, the change of YSLU profile will enable to introduce new post-graduate programs that will meet the market demand, thus there can be new opportunities for collaborating with private sector, industry and economy. e.g. YSLU has two new post-graduate programs in political science and international relations.  The post-graduate program which will be developed in the framework of Veritas project will give additional opportunities of collaboration with other sectors of labour market, as well as will serve a good prototype for other programs.
