Mobile phones are a small technological miracle. They first became popular in the 1990’s and now millions of them are being used each day all over the world. In this project I will be looking at the health risks involved in the use of mobile phones.
A mobile phone works by the use of tiny microwaves. It receives microwave signals from a ‘transmitter’ and sends microwave signals back. These signals are short on-off bursts of microwaves. They are capable of sending a lot of information in a very short time.
A person can use a mobile phone when they need help or when they need to contact someone. A mobile phone can be used almost anywhere in the world. You can do lots of things with a mobile phone, for example, you can surf the internet, send and receive messages and take photographs and videos.
Mobile phones are expensive to buy and maintain. They can be harmful to the brain. They can cause pollution in several ways.
When using a mobile phone some of the microwaves are absorbed into the brain. These cause the brain to heat slightly. Scientists believe that this could be linked to cancer although nothing has been proved yet.
Even though scientists believe that using mobile phones could be linked to cancer, nothing has been proved yet. But by the time scientists will be able to see if there is any correlation, it will be too late. Even if mobile phones do damage your brain this will not happen for many years.
Even though mobile phones could harm your brain in many years to come, they could also save your life. If people are aware of the health risks involved with using a mobile phone they can make the decision of whether or not to use one knowing what the consequences could be.
