Italian Culture and Language Fellowships In the Spring of 2004, John Ceschini, principal of Kensington Parkwood was awarded one of six fellowships and traveled to Milan & Naples, Italy

During this life changing experience, connections were made with two schools in Italy Collegio San Carlo, Milan, Italy Scuola Media, Castellamare Di Stabia Collegio San Carlo, Milan, Italy Scuola Media, Castellamare Di Stabia

A partnership between the schools was formed with teacher exchanges each year

Kindergarten students welcomed their visitors 3 rd graders heard a story written by their Italian peers

Making Connections Through the Arts: Example of Museum Application Back at School Students were asked to examine two works of Italian art. During the 2006 Summer, an additional staff member was awarded an Italian Culture & Language Fellowship This fellowship focused on cultural and life of Rome & Turin

Back at KP, the new school year brought an expanded Italian Language Model 3 rd graders began working one day per week with an Italian language teacher integrating Social Studies

4 th graders built upon their understanding from the past year by integrating the study of fables through both Italian and English

Before school classes in Italian are being offered to both students and adults.

During the Spring of 2007, IATE will take place in Napoli Developed with support of IATE 2006 founding members and from “Restoring Ancient Stabiae Foundation” –A non-profit entity in Italy with members from the Archeological Superintendency of Pompei and the School of Architecture of the University of Maryland.
