Evolution Fossil Formation

Maryland Content Standard Explain that in any particular environment, the growth and survival of organisms and species depend on the physical conditions.

Objective Students will be able to describe how sediments of sand and smaller particles (sometimes containing remains of organisms) are gradually buried and are cemented together by dissolved minerals to form solid rock; and describe that fossils provide evidence for the long history of changing life forms whose remains are found in the rocks.

Essential Question In what ways do fossils support the Theory of Evolution?

Warm-Up Discover Activity page 155 Cells and Heredity book Go to: xplorations/tours/intro/index.html xplorations/tours/intro/index.html –Go through interactive activity. –Read ALL information thoroughly and answer all questions.
