The powerful should use their power to extend Grace

Genesis 50:19–20 (ESV) 19 But Joseph said to them, “Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? 20 As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.

Genesis 50:21–22 (ESV) 21 So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones.” Thus he comforted them and spoke kindly to them. 22 So Joseph remained in Egypt, he and his father’s house. Joseph lived 110 years.

What did Joseph do in order to assure that the death of his father does not split the family?

Rather than exacting his own revenge upon his brothers, Joseph reminded them about the sovereignty of God.

He understood life was in the hand of God.

It’s God’s party, not yours.

What is the great event after creation? Sin

In the book of Genesis we are introduced to the God who gives us what we don’t deserve.

The book of Genesis is about God.

Genesis is about God’s Intervention in history and gracious Interaction with man.
