Doing as Jesus Did

Ephesians 1:11-12 It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we’re living for. Long before we heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everybody.

Ephesians 1:18 … I pray that Jesus will make you intelligent, discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focussed and clear, so that you can see exactly what he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for us Christians …

Ephesians 1:18 … … oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him – endless energy, boundless strength!

1. The Significance of what Jesus did in Matthew 18 & 19 Matthew 19:13-14 Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them.

1. The Significance of what Jesus did in Matthew 18 & 19 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Blessing for children & young people Father, we receive, welcome and acknowledge each of these young lives as delightful blessings from you. We speak your blessings upon them and over them.

As children and young people, we bless you in the name of Jesus, proclaiming the blessings of our God, our Redeemer, upon you. May God hold you in the palm of His hand. May he create in you the desire to listen to His words and give you a willing heart to walk in his ways.

May your eyes look straight ahead into the future that God has for you. May you walk & talk & live as Jesus directs you. May you always worship God in spirit and in truth. May you allow God to mould you into the image of Christ Jesus.

Blessing for Adults As children and young people we thank God for giving us a Church of people who love us. May you always look at the face of Jesus and there find faith, hope, peace and love.

May you walk and talk and live as Jesus leads you. May you faithfully teach us and help us to follow Jesus. Amen.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

1 Corinthians 11:23-26 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood: do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”

Communion is important because: It is a celebration of what Jesus did for us on the cross: he died for us, taking away all of our sin so that we can live forever in the presence of God. It is a celebration of who we are … people who live in light and freedom.

Communion is important because: It is a celebration of who we are called to be: the Body of Christ, the hands and feet of Jesus, people who do what Jesus did … showing people who God is and what he is like. It is a celebration of love.

Communion is not just something we remember. Communion is not just something that we receive. Communion is an offer from Jesus to share life with us, to share his ministry with us.

Communion is a reminder that we are living signs of Jesus’ love. The mission of Jesus to bring God’s love into the world is also our mission because we are a part of his body. He lives in us and we live in Him.
