God of Israel! Hear the prayers of Thy children, imploring on their knees!
Have pity for them, your people and their distress! May its grief disarm Thy wrath!
One day Thou didst turn Thy face from us, and from that day forward Thy people were vanquished!
What! Out of all the nations, dost Thou then wish that they forever erase the one that has known Thee?
But I implore Him all day, in vain. He is deaf to my voice, He does not answer me!
Nevertheless, here I beseech the aid of His arm from night until dawn!
We have seen our cities overthrown, and the Gentiles profaning Thy altar!
Under their yoke our dispersed tribes have lost everything, even the name of Israel!
Art Thou then no longer that God of deliverance, who rescued our tribes from Egypt?
God!
Has Thou broken that sacred alliance, and the divine promises received by our forefathers?
Stop, my brothers! And bless the name of the holy God of our fathers!

Brethren, let us break our chains, and set up once more the altar of the One God of Israel!
Alas! Empty words! Where would we find the arms with which to march into battle?
We have nothing but our tears!
Have you forgotten Him whose might became your ally?
He, who full of mercy so often made His oracles speak for you, and rekindled your faith by the fire of His miracles?
He, who in the ocean was able to clear a passage for our fathers fleeing a shameful bondage?
Those times are no more, when the God of our fathers protected His children, and hearkened unto their prayers!
Wretches, keep quiet! Such doubt is blasphemy!
On our knees, let us implore the Lord who loves us!
Let us once again place the care of our glory in His hand, and let us gird our loins, certain of victory!
He is the God of battles, the God of armies! He will arm you with invincible swords!
The breath of the Lord has passed into his soul! Let us drive the cowardly terror from our hearts and march with him for our deliverance!
Jehovah guides him and returns hope to us!
