A Few Facts -The largest mountain range in California is the Sierra Nevada.. -The highest mountain in California is Mount Whitney which is 14,495 feet high. -Sierra Nevada means “Snowy Mountain Range” in Spanish. -John Muir, a writer and naturalist, explored and wrote about the Yosemite Valley over 100 years ago. California coast stretches for more than 800 miles This region has most of the large cities including San Francisco, San Diego, and Los Angeles This region has sunny weather and world famous beaches.
