John Muir loved to explore. He would spend hours exploring in the fields around his house. Muir founded Yosemite National Park, sequoia National Park, Mount Rainer, and the Grand Canyon National Park.

Muir also founded the Sierra Club which helps protect Yosemite against people who want to put up cities and dams. Muir was the president of the Sierra Club until December 24, 1914.
