The Giving of God’s Law God gave the world His Law in two ways:

"All these I have kept," the young man said. "What do I still lack?" Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

John 14:15 & 1 John 4:19 “If you love me, you will obey what I command.” We love because he first loved us.

Why Obey God’s Law God’s children try to obey God’s Law because of God’s great love for us.

A Summary Of God’s Law

Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus replied: “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: `Love your neighbor as yourself.'

The First Commandment You shall have no other gods

Daniel 3:16-18 O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.

The First Commandment God requires in this commandment that he be first in our lives

Luke 12:20-21 But God said to him, "You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?" This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.

Matthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

1 John 2:15 Proverbs 3:5 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

Jeremiah 17:5 Matthew 10:37 This is what the LORD says: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD." Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
