AIM Αim of this study was to investigate and to analyze types and cases of psychiatric disorders after spine and craniocerebral injuries in amateur athletes.

MATERIAL-METHODS In this retrospective study, we studied 20 patients with amateur athletic activity (15 men,75% and 5 women, 25%, range between 29 and 65 years) presenting at the emergency department after spine and craniocerebral injuries

RESULTS We recorded and analyzed the symptoms with the available psychological test scores within 5 days after injury, at 10 days and at 1 month after injury. The major part of the patients had normal psychological test but in 4 of them, 20% became abnormal may be related to pain disability and prolonged work but also sport absence and work loss. Further studies are warranted, but seem that neuro-trauma effects the quality of life and the psycho-status of amateur athletes

CONCLUSIONS Further studies are warranted, but seem that neuro-trauma effects the quality of life and the psycho-status of amateur athletes
