IT PROVIDES THE ESSAY WITH STRUCTURE & A PURPOSE **THE THESIS ALWAYS CONTAINS 3 DMPs THAT MAKE UP THE BPs

Body Paragraphs 1.Topic Sentence 2.Introduce chapter title for the paragraph & provide quote from chapter as evidence 3.Provide example from movie 4. Explain how it ties to chapter criteria First of all, the chapter discussing baptism can be applied to “The Shawshank Redemption.” In chapter 18 entitled “If She Comes Up It’s Baptism,” the author explains that water in literature and film “can be restorative and cleansing” (157). In the movie, Andy Dufresne, after being found guilty of murdering his adulterous wife and her lover, is given two life sentences in Shawshank State Prison. Over the course of 19 years, he secretly tunnels his way out of the prison, emerging from a sewer pipe into a flooded ditch. As rain from a violent storm beats down upon him, the sewage he crawled through to freedom is literally rinsed away. Symbolically, Andy’s sin is being rinsed away, and his soul cleansed. In other words, this represents Andy’s rebirth and new life after leaving Shawshank behind.
