Final Catalina Update 2013  There are people on the waiting list. If you can not go, please let Ms. Finzer/Mr. Joshu know ASAP!  Turn ALL paperwork into Ms. Finzer or Mr. Joshu ASAP!

Final Catalina Update 2013  This is not your vacation!  This a field trip and you need to act accordingly.  Help make this trip enjoyable for everyone.  The Chaperones are giving up valuable time to make this trip happen.

Final Catalina Update 2013  This trip is about snorkeling in the cold Pacific Ocean with seals, sharks, and fish.  We are not going to sun on the beach.  There will be some “playtime” but you cannot go anywhere outside of the dorms without a chaperone escort

Behavior 1. No leaving your room after curfew. 2. No males in girls’ rooms and visa versa. 3. Quiet after curfew - 9 pm. 4. Respect others feelings and property. 5. Clean up after yourself. 6. Follow directions promptly.

Travel:  Be in the parking lot at Dobson in front of the Science Department at 11:30 pm on Thursday, September 26,  Make sure you have an ID with you.  Also, have the YELLOW ID tags attached to the handle of all of your bags.

Packing:  Please pack wisely knowing you must carry all of your luggage together for some distance.  Bring only ONE duffel bag / rolling suitcase and your backpack for snacks on the bus and boat.  A pillow and blanket on the bus may make napping more comfortable.

Lunch/Snacks  Bring a nutritious lunch and snacks for all day Friday only.  Our first served meal is Friday evening dinner at 5:30pm.  Do not bring extra food to the island. There is plenty of food at meals and food in the rooms brings ants and other biting things.

Lunch/Snacks Dietary requirement? Vegan? Food allergies? We need to know ASAP! Does anyone have motion sickness? If you get carsick/seasick or aren’t sure if you might, bring some anti- motion sickness medication (non- drowsy) just in case. (Meclizine, Dramamine, Bonine, etc.) – take at breakfast.

What To Bring  Bath towel  Beach towel  Flashlight  long pants  Swimsuits (2)  Jacket  Rain coat or poncho,  Hat for sun protection  Water bottle  Sleeping bag  Pillow  Sunscreen,  Sandals (shoes must be worn at all times)  Plastic bag for wet clothes.

What To Bring Optional: Camera Underwater camera. IMPORTANT NOTE: Water and electricity are both “rationed”, one 5- minute shower a day – plan your showers around snorkeling time.

Do Not Bring:  Anything you value - MP3 players, cell phones and jewelry.  The rooms are always unlocked and we are not the only school on the island.

Phone Home? There is no cell coverage on the island.

Extra Money  You will need money for Breakfast Friday, and Sunday dinner, snacks, and water.  You may need money for T- shirts/sweatshirts etc. at CIMI store (CIMI logo).

Medical  Each student must bring their prescribed medications with them to the camp.  Bee allergies – have your epi-pen! Find your “zen”  Asthmatics cannot participate in program activities (like snorkeling) unless they have their inhalers with them!!!

CIMI Rules  Do not take anything from the beach  Never leave the dorm area without a chaperone  Quiet after curfew  Clean-up after yourself – if you see litter, pick it up  Be at meal and activities line-up on time – if your are late, we all are late  Your toes cannot touch the water if an instructor from our group is not present as a life guard

Finally:  Get a good night sleep Wednesday – it might be quite a while before bedtime Friday night  Don’t take a chance on being late!! We will leave without you!  Have someone phone you at 10:30 Thursday night?
