SEPA Youth Boston Servant Trip

Room to Grow

SEPA Youth Boston Servant Trip Founded in 1998, Room to Grow is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of babies born into poverty throughout their critical first three years of development. Volunteer support is critical to their success. Some of the things we may be asked to do involve sorting donations, preparing donations for families, organizing collection drive materials and other special projects.

SEPA Youth Boston Servant Trip Eagle’s Nest Learning Center

SEPA Youth Boston Servant Trip Eagle’s Nest Summer is a fun, safe, and exciting experience for boys in which they establish friendships and enjoy outdoor activities while learning Christian principles and character. We will be helping with their summer program, which may include mentoring, tutoring and encouragement…as well as playing indoor and outdoor games. The summer program at the Benjamin Franklin Institute is located near Back Bay. They have air-conditioned computer labs, classrooms, an outdoor basketball court, and a gated grass field. The boys leave the summer program with skills and memories that will last a lifetime.

SEPA Youth Boston Servant Trip Victory Programs ReVision Urban Farm

SEPA Youth Boston Servant Trip Victory Programs' ReVision Urban Farm has transformed about an acre of abandoned lots into productive and vibrant farmland. Through the help of volunteers, community, and farm partners, they grow and bring good, fresh, locally grown food, to the under- served community of Dorchester, in Boston. When you volunteer at ReVision Urban Farm, not only will you get your hands dirty, but you’ll also be part of the movement to grow fresh, healthy food in the city. They rely on volunteers like us throughout the summer to to keep back the weeds and maintain trash-free gardens. They also may need assistance with produce distribution for shelter residents, the neighborhood farm stand and the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.

SEPA Youth Boston Servant Trip Saturday’s Bread Soup Kitchen

SEPA Youth Boston Servant Trip Saturday’s/Sunday’s Bread is a program that serves free hot meals to people in need in Boston every Saturday and Sunday at the Church of St. John the Evangelist in Boston. Their mission is to provide healthy meals in a safe and inviting atmosphere, free from Society’s prejudices and judgments. This is an interfaith, interracial, interdenominational activity of people concerned with the hungry in the Boston area. Saturday’s/Sunday’s Bread has served more than 300,000 guests in the last 28 years.

SEPA Youth Boston Servant Trip Rosie’s Place

SEPA Youth Boston Servant Trip Rosie's Place was founded in 1974 as the first women’s shelter in the United States. Their mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that helps poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunity and find security in their lives. Today, Rosie’s Place not only provides meals and shelter but also creates opportunities for 12,000 women a year through wide ranging support, housing and education services. The kinds of work we may be doing there are working in the food pantry and preparing a serving a meal.

SEPA Youth Boston Servant Trip The Intersection – An ELCA Mission Development Congregation

SEPA Youth Boston Servant Trip On Thursday, the entire group will spend the day in Dorchester with Pastor Tiffany Cheney. Pastor Tiffany is an ELCA mission developer, building a new church community. Together, we will serve to help The Intersection in the Dorchester community. From cleaning to painting to marketing, Pastor Tiffany will help us use our hands to do God’s work in Dorchester.

SEPA Youth Boston Servant Trip Community Servings

SEPA Youth Boston Servant Trip With the help of hundreds of volunteers, business, and corporate sponsors, and dedicated staff and board members, Community Servings prepares and delivers 8,500 lunches and dinners each week to the homes of individuals and families who are homebound with an acute life- threatening illness. While we are there, we may be asked to prepare and package these meals in the kitchen, deliver meals, and assist with other projects. Whatever we do will have a profound and meaningful impact on the lives of their 1,450 sick and hungry clients.
