doc.: IEEE 11-13/0000r0 SubmissionSlide 2 Abstract This document describes Wi-Fi and cellular co-existence use cases for HEW. Dapeng Liu (CMCC) July 2013

doc.: IEEE 11-13/0000r0 Submission Operator Deployed Wi-Fi Use Cases: Background Background –Many operators have deployed Wi-Fi network to offload cellular traffic. For example: CMCC has deployed more than 3 million access points. –Deployment scenario: Campus Transport stations Hotels Coffee shops Residential area –Characteristics of operator deployed Wi-Fi(As discussed in /0343r0) High density High interference Those use cases have been discussed in 11-13/0343r0 and other contributions [2]. This contribution only focus on interference management with cellular. July 2013 Slide 3Dapeng Liu (CMCC)

doc.: IEEE 11-13/0000r0 Submission Wi-Fi and Cellular Co-existence Use Case There is a trend that operators deploy Wi-Fi access point together with small cells –The Wi-Fi access point and the small cells is integrated into one equipment. –This can reduce the Wi-Fi deployment cost significantly and provide coverage for both Wi-Fi and cellular. Easy for deployment. Easy to re-use transportation resources. –Scenario Wi-Fi antenna and the small cell antenna’s location is very near (in the same equipment) Spectrum of Wi-Fi and small cell may also adjacent. July 2013 Slide 4Dapeng Liu (CMCC)

doc.: IEEE 11-13/0000r0 Submission Wi-Fi and Cellular Co-existence Use Case July 2013 Slide 5Dapeng Liu (CMCC) Small Cell and WLAN Integrated Equipment WLAN3G/LTE Common Backhaul UE WLAN3G/LTE One integrated equipment have both WLAN and 3G/LTE function. WLAN and 3G/LTE may active simultaneously. As discussed in [1], there may be interference between TD-LTE and WLAN. TD-LTE spectrum in China: MHz There will have interference with WLAN 2.4GHz

doc.: IEEE 11-13/0000r0 Submission Wi-Fi and Cellular Co-existence Use Case: Requirement Requirement for Wi-Fi and cellular co-existence use case –Interference management Reduce the radio interference between Wi-Fi and small cell. Ensure the interference between Wi-Fi and small cell do not affect the both Wi-Fi and small cell’s performance. Proposal –HEW should consider interference control requirement when design the specification. –Write the interference control between Wi-Fi and cellular requirement in HEW SG’s PAR&5C. July 2013 Slide 6Dapeng Liu (CMCC)
