2 Fifth Annual LBNL Safety Culture Survey  Runs now until November 9 th – next Monday  Results will be posted online in December  Results will be presented at Monday Morning Meeting  Anonymous, but if you include your name in a comment, you lose anonymity  Valuable source of feedback –on employee perceptions of safety at LBNL including the role that managers and supervisors play –the effectiveness of ES&H programs –the receptiveness to reporting events or injuries and other areas

3 Safety Culture Survey: Some FY08 Results Survey Question Definitely & Mostly True I feel confident that I am working in a safe environment96% I’m comfortable stopping work if I or my co-workers are at risk of being hurt 90% I trust there will be no negative repercussions to me or my work group if I report an injury to my supervisor or manager 61% My Division’s senior management is personally committed to supporting safe work practices 90% My supervisor gives me feedback on my safety performance throughout the year 66% It is clear that my supervisor puts safety concerns first89% We regularly talk about safety mistakes or near misses as opportunities to learn rather than to find fault or fix blame 70%

4 FY09 Safety Culture Questionnaire  48 questions ~ 10 minutes  Asked to identify –Division, employment status, classification (supervisor, work lead, non-managerial employee)  Can add comments  Categories of questions –Personal experience with safety –Line management commitment to safety –Work group safety –Ergo –Environmental –Policies and procedures –Information flow  EHS to worker  Worker to EHS
