Geography

Pacific Ocean This is the largest and deepest ocean in the world. This ocean has the deepest known depth called Challenger Deep in the Marianas Trench. This ocean’s name means peaceful.

Atlantic Ocean This is the 2 nd largest ocean in the world. This has a deep point called Milwaukee Deep near Puerto Rico.

Gulf of Mexico This is on the southeast coast of the United States and its deepest part is called Sigsbee Deep.

Great Lakes The largest body of FRESH water in the world. Huron, Ontario, Erie, Superior, and Michigan (HOMES) H=Huron O=Ontario M=Michigan E=Erie S=Superior

Great Salt Lake Largest body of saltwater in the United States. + = Great Salt Lake

Chesapeake Bay Popular area for early settlement, explored by John Smith in 1808, that empties into the Atlantic Ocean

San Francisco Bay Major sea port in the United States, located on the west coast that receives imports from Asia.

Hudson River The Erie Canal connects this to New York City. This helps make New York City the largest city in North America.

Mississippi River This is the longest river in the United States and flows from Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico. Minnesota Gulf of Mexico

Ohio River This natural boundary begins in the state of Pennsylvania. This natural boundary separates KY from all states that lie North of KY on the U.S. map.

Colorado River This river formed the Grand Canyon and empties into the Rio Grande.

Missouri River This river is known as the big muddy and crosses the Great Plains.

Rio Grande River This river forms the boundary of the United States and Mexico. Mexico United States
