What is a BTEC unit of work? All qualification in the National Qualification Framework are made up of several small units, so that you can learn at a pace that suits your learning style. Most units will take about 30 hours of work or typically one term. There are clear progression routes from these courses. You can build up your qualification bit by bit, and take units that you have completed with you when you move from education into a job or from one job to another.

Vocational Courses Traditional GCSE Courses Which way?

What makes a good choice? Ask yourself: How do I learn best? Do I perform better in practical subjects? What are my strongest subjects? Which career path might I take?

What makes a bad choice? Do not choose a subject because a friend has chosen it  Do not choose a subject just because you like the teacher Do not choose a subject because you think it will be easy Do not choose a subject without care and thought Do not ignore a subject that might be new to you.

Some of you may know exactly what you want to do, but, if not, leave as many doors open as possible!

Where do we go from here?

Read the booklet, ask questions, fill in the form.

Parents’ Evening Monday 23 rd February Return of Option Forms Monday 2 nd March
