Social Studies Vocabulary – Use the Social Studies vocabulary words in every day life by reading newspapers, atlases, magazines, primary and secondary sources. Make flashcards and write the meaning of words (in your own words) and pictures that will help you remember what the term means. Reading - When reading class notes and graphic organizers: pull out main ideas,focus on key details,use key words and phrases, and break down the larger ideas Map Skills – Use maps when traveling. When reading newspapers, magazine or talking about countries around the world have your child locate the country on a map. Practice sites:

Science Review interactive notebook nightly. Review CRCT bell ringers everyday. Review difficult concepts by reading additional online websites and resources such as:

English Language Arts Review grammar concepts ( Review literary elements Refine writing assignments Practice the art of reading

Math Prepare for assessments early. Review class notes nightly for at least ten minutes. Form a study group. Math is fun when you work with friends. Ask for help right when you don’t understand. Use all human resources….parents, siblings, and don’t forget the teacher! Read all questions carefully and double check for computational mistakes. ALWAYS read the teacher’s comments on your assessments. The material will show up again, and the redirection of the teacher can help with mastery of content. Ask if you do not understand what the teacher has written on your paper.

Students with Disabilities For all students, especially ones with a disability, I recommend studystack.com. For many students who don’t understand the process, repeated repetition is the key to long term memory and increased test scores. If the teacher has taught it one way and a student with a disability understands it, please don’t try and show them an “easier” way.
