Lea Community Primary School Behaviour at our School

During the last half-term there have been meetings with children, parents, governors and staff to find out what we would all like to see happen with Lea Community school. Lea Community

From these meetings, we have found that everyone wants us to have a caring, family atmosphere in which teaching and learning can take place in a safe and happy environment. What we want:

 to respect  to learn  to teach  to be safe.. We all have responsibility to uphold these rights. Our Rights

 Stay positive  Keep calm  Keep it private  Give choice to help us take responsibility  Use a restorative approach. Staff Responsibilities

. Our Code of Conduct  We treat all people and property with respect.  We always use good manners.  We are kind to each other.  We use kind words.

. Our Code of Conduct  We are honest.  We wear our uniform with pride.  We help others.  We keep ourselves and others safe.

. Our Code of Conduct  We speak to an adult if we have a problem or worry.  We are a happy community.

In today’s assembly we are now going to talk about: Rewards We have rewards to encourage good behaviour. Sanctions We have sanctions to punish and discourage bad behaviour.. Today’s Assembly

Behaviour at School Sanctions Sadly, sometimes some of us do not behave as we should. We are bringing in a new system which will be followed in all classes.

Behaviour at School Traffic Light System Everyone starts each day on green. Remember: Raffle for staying on green.

Behaviour at School Traffic Light System If someone is not behaving as they should then they will be given a verbal reminder.

Behaviour at School Traffic Light System If the behaviour continues, the child will be moved to amber. If a child is on amber then they will miss their next playtime although they will be given the opportunity to earn their way back to green.

Behaviour at School Traffic Light System If anyone is moved to amber twice in a week then an amber slip will be sent home.

Behaviour at School Traffic Light System Example of behaviours that lead to Amber: Ignoring instructions Answering back to an adult Leaving a classroom without permission Arguing with adults Blaming someone else for something done by self Scribbling on someone’s work

Behaviour at School Traffic Light System If a child’s name is moved onto red then the child will miss a playtime and complete a ‘think sheet’. This will taken to Mrs Slater and then will be sent home.

Behaviour at School Traffic Light System If a child is moved onto red 3 times in a term then a meeting with parents will be called.

Behaviour at School Traffic Light System Example of behaviours that lead to Red: Putting other children down Rude or offensive language or behaviour Threatening behaviour Unprovoked physical violence of any kind Leaving school without permission Theft or vandalism Discriminatory behaviour

Behaviour at School Major breach of discipline Verbal warning by the headteacher Immediate red light and think sheet Isolation, loss of privileges club & trips etc. Continued serious, unacceptable behaviour may lead to fixed or permanent exclusion from school.

Behaviour at School Lunch times/ Breakfast club The same sanctions apply.

Behaviour at School Preventing Bullying Bullying is unacceptable. If you have a problem or a worry, always speak to an adult. We will hold an annual anti-bullying week.

Behaviour at School Parents/ Guardians Our parents will know what is going on in school!

Outside School If our behaviour outside school could let down the reputation of the school then action will be taken in school.

This will begin on Monday. Evaluation meetings with parents, children, governors and staff.. Behaviour System

Lea Community Primary School Let’s all work together to make sure our behaviour is at its best all of the time.
