Cyberbullying… Always use ‘Net-iquette’ at all times Block and report abusive people! Cyberbullying is a hate crime under law. It should be reported to CEOPS or the police. Grooming… Know who your child is ‘virtually’ friendly with - monitor Make sure that they only accept ‘friends’ that they actually know. Explain that people on the internet might not be who they say they are. Watch for the danger signs…

Danger signs of grooming… If the person tries to insist on having your phone number or private address If the person wants to keep their chats with you secret and/or the person shares information with you and tells you not to tell anyone else about it If the person tells you that you will get into trouble if you tell an adult what has been going on If the person s you pictures which make you feel uncomfortable and which you would not want to show to anyone else If the person wants you to them pictures of yourself or use a webcam in a way which makes you feel uncomfortable If the person wants to meet you and tells you not to let anyone know

Digital Dirt… When we go online we leave a digital footprint or fingerprint. People can follow this trail quite easily and it is permanent. We call this a ‘digital tattoo’. What kind of digital tattoo are people leaving on social networks? Who will look at it in the future?

S*xting… This is when you send inappropriate content/images to other people (through IM, text, FB messenger or Snapchat) This can be to a boyfriend or girlfriend It can also be to a ‘groomer’ – blackmail Often leads to ‘revenge p*£n’ S*xting can be a crime Sharing inappropriate images of children is a crime 25% have s*xted 20% have sent a ‘dodgy’ photo
